Los Alamos Dirt - Bayo Canyon (...I'm pretty sure that it was named after Scott Bayo on "Happy Days")

The Bayo Canyon Loop is a quick fun loop that you can do in less than an hour from the round-about on North Mesa Road. Doing it clockwise you will start of on some pretty smooth and wide singletrack and after about two miles drop down a slightly technichal wagon road to the bottom of the canyon. Normally I hate rides like these that start with a downhill and end with an uphill, but this one is not bad at all - in fact the climb out of the canyon is wimpy (slope-wise), but hey, if you can clean all the short benches and narrow wagon ruts - then you got MY vote for bad-ass-muthafucka-of-the-year. It ain't easy. Check out how deep some of those wagon ruts can get - the one on the bottom left is about three feet deep.

Bayo Canyon is a great place to mess around at - but a little short for a "real" ride. To make it mo-real keep heading east down the canyon and hang a right at the sewage treatment plant and come back up Pueblo Canyon to Los Alamos - some pretty sick rock formations up Pueblo Canyon if you like things that look like large penises - I know some of you do!

Have fun .........and stay off the penises.
